about
Music written by Richard Wright, Pink Floyd
A while back, I was simultaneously interested in two songs: "Love Reign O'er Me" by The Who and "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" by Pink Floyd. My favorite part of both songs is the very beginning, before the entire band is playing. In "Love," a beautiful, poignant piano solo plays over the sound of pouring rain. Every time I hear it, I'm amazed at its simplicity and power. In my favorite version of "Shine On," a chord played on wine glasses slowly fades in, and a weeping, haunting solo plays on what you might call a synthesized French horn. In this song, I take the sparseness of "Love" and combine it with the emotions of "Shine On." Think of it as my personal tribute to the two members of Pink Floyd who have passed away, Syd Barrett and Richard Wright.
Note: This is more of a demo than a finished song, since the sound quality is sub-par and some of the notes are hard to make out. I think I'll make a full version eventually. For now, enjoy this bit with headphones.
